Rosary Hill Ashram
The humble beginning of Rosary Hill Ashram took place at Mattakara on 3oth May, 1989 in the diocese of Palai. It was a new mile’s stone in the history of the Rosarians in Kerala. This was the second Ashram in Kerala and the first in Syro-Malabar rite. A land, of 2.5 acre was purchased with a small building with due permission of Prior General Fr. M. L. Aloysius CR and his council and the diocesan Bishop. Fr. C. Bernard CR and Brothers Fiat and James Thomas were the pioneers at Mattakkara and named as Rosary Hill Ashram.
In the initial stage, Rosary Hill Ashram had to pass through a lot of crisis while at Mattakkara. We later realized that this place is not conducive for our way of life. By the Divine Providence we were able to sell the property with the consent of the donor Fr. Joseph Thekkanady and shifted Ashram to newly purchased property at Vellikulangara on 29th May 1995 in the diocese of Irinjalakuda.
After a gap of ten years, we could establish Rosary Hill Ashram with necessary building and other infrastructural facilities. Fr. Augustine Raju, CR, Brothers Fiat and Sunny Joseph were the pioneer members to this Ashram. On 30th March 1996 bless the house to begin the life. On 22 May 1997, Fr. K.P. Xavier was appointed Superior of this community. On 1st February 1998 foundation stone laid and Blessed by Most. Rev. Dr. James Pachyatti, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda. Our Beloved donor sponsored the new chapel.
The formal inauguration of Rosary Hill Ashram and the blessing of new chapel were done by His Eminence Mar James Pazhayattil, the of Irinjalakuda on 12th 1999 in the presence of Prior General Fr. M.L. Aloysius CR. In January 2000, this house become a formal house and was erected as the Aspirants house. Many people visit our Ashram for spiritual needs.
