Rosarian Monastery in USA

A memorable day for the Rosarians and a new mile stone in the History of the Congregation of the Rosarians. First time our Monastery is established in the United States of America in the diocese of Covington, Kentucky, USA. On 15th June 2019 the Rosarians began their life at St. Anne’s Retreat House and a portion was given to them to reside and carry out their contemplative mission.

The Bishop of the Diocese His Excellency Roger Foys, Very Rev.Fr. Daniel Schomaker the Vicar General of the Diocese, Fr. Prior General, two more diocesan priests, two deacons and 15 sisters from our neighboring convent from the Congregation of the Divine Providence and two choir ladies, and Fr. Antony Berdinand CR, Fr. Thomas CR and Fr. Anil Baa CR were present for the inaugural Mass.

During the Holy Mass the Bishop His Excellency preached the importance about Prayer and contemplation, and how the Blessed Mother was with the Apostles when they were at prayer. This house has a long history of Prayer by the Sisters of the Divine Providence and now will be continued by the Rosarians. Though there is contemplative nuns’ convent in our diocese, he was happy to invite for the first time the contemplative men into our diocese.

Rev. Fr. Justin Raj CR, the Prior General spoke about the Congregation and its charism and Mission in brief and thanked everyone. Fr. Prior General installed Fr. Antony Berdinand CR as superior of the Rosarian Monastery, USA.

To establish this community Rev. Fr. K.P. Xavier CR, Former Prior General and his team, took initiative and gave mandate to Fr. Francis Jeyaseelan, CR then Superior at Rosarian Monastery in London Ontario, Canada. His selfless efforts and that of Fr. Antony Kamal are praiseworthy.

2020 Fr. Thomas CR was called back to India. In 2023 January Fr. George, CR and Fr. Susai Raj CR joined our community.

In the month of November 2022 His Excellency Most. Rev. John C. Iffert, Bishop of Covington requested our Prior General Rev. Fr. S. Justin Raj CR to choose a new place instead of St. Anne’s retreat house for the residence of the Rosarians. Our Prior General visited us and made his canonical visitation and with the help of the Bishop he took the Superior too to see the places.

After seeing around 7 places, Prior General consulted the community Members and chose St. Agnes Paris and informed the Bishop about our choice. The bishop accepted and promised to get ready for the blessing. The Bishop is very generous and supportive to the Rosarians. He provided a car for them to use.

On 27-04-2023, a new chapter was opened for the Rosarian in USA. We left St. Anne’s Retreat House and came to St. Agnes Paris in Fort Wright in Kentucky USA. Our Prior General Rev. Fr. Justin Raj CR, Rev. Fr. Francis Jeyaseelan CR the Regional Superior for Sri Lanka, [who worked for establishment of community in USA], came to the new place. Everything was arranged according to the direction of the Prior General by the Superior for the blessing of new community building on the next day.

On 28 April 2023, at 2.00 pm the Bishop His Excellency Most. Rev. John C. Iffert, Very. Fr. Mark Keen, Vicar General of the diocese and Pastor of St. Agnes, Chancellor, a few Rev. Fathers of the diocese, Rev. Sisters of Congregation of Divine Providence, Friends and well-wishers gathered for the blessing and inauguration of the Rosarian Community in this new place. The Bishop said a prayer and blessed the building and inaugurated the Rosarian Community. Fr. Francis Jeyaseelan CR briefed the history of the Rosarians and their coming to Covington diocese at the request of Prior General. Prior General and the Bishop of the of Covington diocese made changes in the old agreement and signed the new one.

Thanks be to God and our Blessed Mother, the Queen of the Holy Rosary our patroness.
