After assuming leadership, Very Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao, the Pontifical Commissary of the Congregation of the Rosarians, placed Formation at the heart of his mission. Recognizing it as the lifeline for the future of the Congregation, he stressed that authentic growth, fidelity to charism, and fruitful service to the Church all depend on strong and well-rooted formation.
To translate this vision into action, Fr. Serrao convened a Formators’ Meeting from July 7–9, 2025, gathering nearly ten dedicated formators from across the Congregation. He was accompanied by the Pontifical Commissary assistants, making this meeting not only an administrative exercise but also a spiritual and fraternal encounter.
Purpose of the Meeting
The three-day gathering was designed as a platform for:
- Reflection – examining the current state of formation at different stages of religious life.
- Sharing – formators exchanged experiences, challenges, and best practices.
- Direction-setting – identifying concrete steps and strategies for strengthening the ongoing and initial formation of members.
Key Themes Discussed
- Deepening the Charism – ensuring that every stage of formation integrates the Rosarian identity, spirituality, and mission.
- Ongoing Formation – emphasizing that formation is a lifelong journey, not confined to the novitiate or seminary years.
- Accompaniment and Mentorship – highlighting the role of formators as spiritual guides who nurture vocations with patience, wisdom, and compassion.
- Faithful Service – preparing members to respond to the needs of the Church and society with zeal and commitment.
Significance for the Congregation
This initiative reflects the strong commitment of the new leadership to reorient and renew formation in the Congregation. It underscores the conviction that a well-formed religious is not only a faithful witness to the Gospel but also an effective servant in today’s rapidly changing world.
The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of collaboration among formators, recognizing them as a vital network that sustains the life of the Congregation across its communities.
A Milestone for the Future
The July meeting stands as a milestone in the journey of the Rosarians. Under the guidance of Very Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao and his team, the Congregation steps forward with renewed clarity, stronger focus, and deeper dedication to its formative mission.
