On Saturday, the 21st of September 2024, the Rosarian Generalate in Bengaluru celebrated the feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, marking the patronal feast day of Rev. Fr. P.V. Mathew CR, the Second General Councillor of the Congregation of Rosarians. The event brought together both the Rosarian Generalate and Rosarian Training Centre communities, along with four Rosarian sisters and a few laypeople who regularly participate in the daily Holy Mass.
The celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass in the Generalate Chapel, with Rev. Fr. P.V. Mathew CR, the feastarian, as the main celebrant. During the Mass, Very Rev. Fr. Justin Raj CR, the Prior General, delivered an introduction to the life and mission of St. Matthew, reflecting on his role as the Apostle and Evangelist. Fr. Prior General emphasized how St. Matthew is a “Gift of God” to the Church and invited the faithful to pray for Fr. P.V. Mathew as he celebrated his patronal feast day.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Fr. P.V. Mathew CR expressed his sincere thanks to the gathered community for their prayers and presence, making the celebration a deeply personal and spiritual moment for all involved.
After the Holy Mass, the celebration continued in the Rosarian Generalate refectory, where everyone gathered for a time of festal wishes and congratulations. The gathering featured a cake-cutting ceremony in honour of Fr. P.V. Mathew, followed by a sumptuous shared by all.
The day was a beautiful reminder of the spirit of community, prayer, and thanksgiving, as we celebrated both the life of St. Matthew the Apostle and the dedicated ministry of Fr. P.V. Mathew CR.
