Bengaluru, India – On September 3, 2024, Most Rev. Joseph Vianney Fernando, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kandy, Sri Lanka paid a special courtesy visit to the Rosarian Generalate. His arrival was met with warm hospitality by the Rosarian community, led by Very Rev. Fr. Justin Raj CR, the Prior General, and the Vicar General Very Rev. Fr. Sahayadasan CR welcomed the Bishop with a bouquet of flowers at the entrance of the Generalate.
Following the reception, members of both the Rosarian Generalate and the Rosarian Training Centre communities gathered in the RG Refectory for a formal welcome. Fr. Prior General honoured Bishop Vianney with a shawl and a garland, introducing him to the assembly. He spoke about the Bishop’s notable administration, support and his deep affection for the Rosarians during his tenure as the Bishop of Kandy. Fr. Prior General also took the opportunity to introduce the General Administration team to the Bishop and those gathered. He also offered him a special Rosary made by Rosarian Sisters which the Bishop appreciated.
Bishop Vianney, in his address, expressed his admiration for the Rosarians, particularly acknowledging the life and mission of the Servant of God B.A. Thomas, the Founder of the Rosarian Order. He praised the community for their dedication and mission and offered words of encouragement. The Bishop also requested their prayers for his continued spiritual journey.
The gathering concluded with everyone offering their well-wishes to Bishop Fernando, followed by a time of refreshment shared with the Bishop. Before departing, Bishop Vianney offered prayers to the Holy Spirit, imparted his blessings on all present, and marked the end of a joyous and spiritually enriching visit and Bishop also visited the Generalate Chapel and our Religious article shop Sanjoe.
The visit was a memorable occasion, filled with heartfelt moments of fellowship and mutual respect, leaving a lasting impression on the Rosarian community.
